Sherry Chapman Memorial Scholarship
Our scholarship provides the opportunity for two people to attend the conference for free every year. To honor past President, Sherry Chapman's commitment to play therapy education, KSAPT's scholarship will now be the Sherry Chapman Memorial Scholarship.

The purpose of the The Sherry Chapman Memorial Scholarship is to provide the opportunity for 2 current KSAPT individual professional members and/or clinical students who, due to financial restrictions, would not be able to attend the annual KSAPT conference without support. This scholarship honor KSAPT's past president, Sherry Chapman for her many contributions to the Kansas Play therapy community.
The KSAPT Scholarship offers 2 recipients a complimentary 2-day KSAPT Annual Play Therapy Conference registration for April 25-26 2024. The award is based on financial need, contributions to the field of play therapy, and/or potential to give back to the field. The due date is February 1, 2024.
1. Eligibility for Consideration:
- The applicant must hold a Master’s Degree or Doctorate Degree or be working toward a Master’s or Doctorate’s Degree in the mental health field.
- The applicant should possess the personal qualities thought to be desirable as a Play Therapist.
- The applicant is currently a student, under supervision, or their current financial situation would preclude them from attending the conference.
The scholarship awarded is to cover the registration fee of the 2-day conference and does not cover room and board or transportation. The scholarship recipient is responsible for securing their own travel, lodging and incidental expenses.
2. Procedures for Application:
- The applicant must complete this application to its entirety.

- The applicant must complete a personal statement telling the board why the scholarship is needed.
3. Scholarship will be awarded:
- The decision will be made by the KSAPT Board on or before March 31 of each calendar year.
- The 2 individuals selected to receive the scholarship may only receive it once in a lifetime.
- This scholarship is not transferable. The scholarship recipients need to notify the KSAPT Board if they cannot attend.
